Primary School Desks
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that we have recently granted Mendive Middle School, in Sparks, NV, a gift in the amount of $2,000 to purchase new soccer uniforms and equipment!

This donation will go a long way in helping to ensure that the school’s soccer teams have everything they need to succeed on the field. These new uniforms will also give the team a sense of pride and unity, which is essential in building a strong and successful team.

As a community, we need to support our young athletes and provide them with the necessary resources to help them excel in their chosen sports.

We would like to thank ALL of the incredible businesses and individuals that helped us reach our goals by contributing to our ‘Spring Into Action’ campaign this year. It is truly heartwarming to see members of our community step up and contribute to causes that are important to us all. Their generosity will undoubtedly make a difference big difference in the lives of these student-athletes.

Big thanks to City of Sparks Councilman Donald Abbott for helping us out at the check presentation and as always, a HUGE thank you to our friends at the @katie_grace17 for hooking the kids up with some big bags of granola and starburst for everyone to take home!!

We wish Mendive’s Girls & Boys Soccer Teams the best of luck on their next season and look forward to seeing them proudly donning their new uniforms and equipment!

TEAM WORK for the win!!!  Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of our incredible sponsors and supporters, the Nevada Kids Foundation was honored to present a check for $10,000 to Clayton Middle School’s athletic department, in front of their 160+ EXCITED student athletes, coaches and faculty!!

As part of our commitment to supporting our local youth, we are thrilled to be able to provide students with new sports equipment that will not only boost their confidence but also improve their overall performance.

And as fellow sports enthusiasts, we understand the importance of having proper gear to enhance a players’ performance and keep them safe in the game.

We believe every child deserves the chance to participate in sports and activities regardless of their financial background and we strive to continue our work in ensuring that happens.

This donation represents the community’s commitment to their well-being and a belief in their abilities to excel in sports. We want them to succeed both on the playing field and in life.

The future looks bright for these athletes and we cannot wait to see the amazing things they will accomplish with the new equipment.

Big thanks to Richard Arndt and Jeff w/Gilbane Building Company for helping us out with the presentation and the amazing Katie Grace Foundation for adding some sweet treats for the kids.

The Nevada Kids Foundation is honored to have partnered with the City of Reno on their new pilot program, the Adaptive Cycling Center. The fist of its kind in Nevada and located at the Rosewood Nature Study Area in Reno, the center will offer a membership-based program that will allow persons with disabilities to access special adaptive bikes and jump directly on the trail, no bike transport needed.

‘The adaptive cycling center and the Grit Freedom Chair are part of the City of Reno's commitment to improving accessibility and promoting outdoor recreation for all. The City is proud to provide a space where people with disabilities can explore and enjoy the outdoors.’

We presented the amazing April Wolfe and Anthony Goulet, from the City of Reno, with a $1000 donation to help provide scholarships for youth memberships to the center. These two are the rock stars that have gotten this incredible program off the ground, making it a reality now for local families with children and/or adults with disabilities to be able to access a variety of adaptive bikes and ride together. And a big thank you to Coen for cruising by in his super cool adaptive bike to help us hold the check!

The grand opening will take place on Saturday May 6, 2023, from 9- 3:00pm at the Rosewood Nature Study Area at 6800 Pembroke Drive with FREE adaptive bike use, an adaptive bike rodeo hosted by Kiwanis Bikes, and cycling vendors.

Our annual ‘Spring Into Action’ campaign focuses on providing support to Northern Nevada's local youth sports programs in need, with the goal of getting kids moving, engaged & motivated.

Why Are Sports Important?

Sports are beneficial for both a child’s mental and physical well-being. Not only can sports help to strengthen bones and tone muscles, but they can also help children improve their academic performance and teach them the value of teamwork.

https://www.afcurgentcarehixsontn.com/what-is-the-importance-of-sports-in-our-lives/

Additional Benefits of Sports can include:

·         Better self-esteem

·         Exercise

·         Improved leadership skills

·         Stronger relationships

·         Better communication

·         Time management skills

Last year's tournament was very successful and allowed us to give back $13,000 directly to Sparks High School's Baseball and Softball programs, allowing them to purchase new uniforms and equipment, cover the out of pocket registrations costs for those 60+ student athletes as well as some much needed repairs to their fields!

This year we have specifically directed our attention to some of the schools that fall short of qualifying for additional Title 1 funding and have an even greater and dire need for support from outside resources.

We work directly with each school’s administration to find out what the individual needs are in their athletic departments and then rally support to make those 'wish lists' a reality by providing them with funding to purchase new sports uniforms and equipment.

Our campaign and poker tournament this spring was very successful and raised enough money to be able to give back a total of $20,000 in funding to six different local programs for youth.

Including the athletic programs/departments of Clayton Middle, Mendive Middle, Carson Middle and Churchill County Middle. As well as support for Youth on Course program for youth golf and scholarships for memberships to the new City of Reno's Adaptive Cycling Center.

As part of our commitment to supporting our local youth, we are thrilled to be able to provide students with new sports equipment that will not only boost their confidence but also improve their overall performance. We believe every child deserves the chance to participate in sports and activities regardless of their financial background and we strive to continue our work in ensuring that happens.

Through our various initiatives and partnerships, our vision is to create a world where every child has access to the tools they need to reach their full potential.

We recently had the honor of surprising an amazing group of 5th grade students from Sepulveda Elementary School’s Leadership Class with an unexpected check to cover the costs of sending them to a local, mid-level leadership conference!

This exceptional group of young leaders are paving the way for elementary school leadership and are the first group to attend a conference at that level. We could not be more proud to support them!

With the help of an outstanding group of teachers, School Counselor Maegen Rae Tolley piloted the program back in October 2022 and in a very short time this group has accomplished some big goals! Including..... hosting Sepulveda’s first annual trunk or treat event, setup of the School’s Valentine’s Day Dance (which hosted 1300 people) as well as a donation drive to gather items to make holiday bags for kids at Renown’s Children’s Hospital.

‘They have been able to learn skills such as how to start a fundraiser, talk on the phone to different agencies to help facilitate this fundraiser. They participated in kindness week filling Sepulveda with kindness throughout days of the week. The students are go-getters who are looking to expand their leadership skills, and take what they have learned to their middle and high school levels.’

These kids are special and we are so proud to celebrate and support them! Our communities’ futures looks a lot brighter after spending time with this group, they are going to do great things and are on a mission to make this world a more positive place to be!

                               A huge thank you to…

- Miguel Sepulveda Elementary School for their outstanding

dedication and hard work

-Sal and his team at Pizza Plus Sparks on Los Altos for your

unbelievable generosity in donating 20 pizzas for the surprise

A HUGE thank you to ALL of our amazing partners/sponsors, individuals & families that helped make our 2nd Annual Holiday Donation Drive a massive success!!

Team work makes the dream work and we appreciate every single angel that helped us make our big goals a reality this Christmas!

This year we were able to more than triple our impact from 2021, serving more than 700+ children located throughout Northern Nevada.  We expanded to cover not only the Reno, Sparks area but also Carson, Fernley and Elko, supplying material donations that totaled over $70,000.  We delivered over 3,500 clothing items, 3,200 toiletry items, 8,000 diapers and pull ups, 850 toys and sports items, over 200 bedding items an more.

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing 51 local business partners and over 200 individual donors, hundreds of local youth were able to have warm winter attire, warm bedding to sleep in, necessary basic toiletries for good hygiene and fun new toys to help brighten their spirits this winter!

A few of the local organizations and shelters we impacted with our  2022 holiday drive donations include:

  • Our Place Family Shelter- Reno/Sparks

  • Washoe Casa- Washoe County

  • Casa De Vida- Reno

  • Glenn Duncan Elementary -Reno

  • Austin's House-Carson

They distributed hundreds of turkeys to families in need and we were so excited to be able to help them! Our super volunteers picked up and delivered over 40 turkeys!!

At the end of our 3rd quarter, focused on educational goals, we were thrilled to be able to deliver a $3500 check to Glenn Duncan Elementary School's Principal, Ryan Smith, to support their goal of creating an inspiring, college & career rich culture for the students.

These funds will be used to purchase a schoolwide subscription to Nepris computer program for career & college exploration for all students.

We also provided funding for field trips and PBIS rewards/incentives for students as well.

We will use the second portion of the money raised this fall to help fund a school garden project for Fernley Elementary School in Spring 2023.

We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored or volunteered during our Fall quarter. We could not do what we do without your tremendous support!
